Análisis cuantitativo del autoempleo entre refugiados reasentados en Canadá

El objetivo de este artículo es analizar la participación en el autoempleo entre personas refugiadas reasentadas en Canadá desde una perspectiva cuantitativa, así como identificar los factores determinantes y las modalidades que asume. Usando como fuente de información el Censo de Población de Canadá de 2021, así como métodos y técnicas de la estadística descriptiva e inferencial. Los resultados revelan que los refugiados ostentan tasas de autoempleo más altas que el resto de la población trabajadora, aunque con algunas diferencias según región de nacimiento, perfil sociodemográfico y tipo de autoempleo. Las actividades laborales que realizan y los servicios que ofertan por cuenta propia se vinculan con diversos sectores económicos como los servicios profesionales, científicos y técnicos, el comercio al por mayor y por menor, el transporte y servicios públicos, la manufactura y la construcción, lo cual influye en su integración social en ese país.
