Subjetividade e subversão do racismo: um estudo de caso sobre os haitianos na República Dominicana

Este artigo tem como objetivo investigar a maneira pela qual os haitianos residentes na República Dominicana constroem mecanismos de defesa ao racismo dominicano. Tendo em vista a recente catástrofe que atingiu Porto-Príncipe no dia 12 de janeiro de 2010, as respostas contrárias aos deslocamentos em massa dos haitianos para a vizinha dominicana podem ser imprevisíveis. Resta-nos, pois, fazer uma análise das raízes históricas do contexto nacional haitiano para tentar compreender as perspectivas de um cenário futuro para a diáspora haitiana no contexto dominicano.

This article aims to investigate how the Haitian immigrants who live in the Dominican Republic build defense mechanisms to the Dominican racism against them. Since the recent earthquake which hit Port-au-Prince in January 12th, 2010, the opposing responses to the mass displacement of Haitians to the Dominican Republic can be unpredictable. Hence, it is essential that we analyze the historical roots of the Haitian context in order to comprehend the perspectives of future scenery to the Haitian diaspora in the Dominican context.
