Since 2005, Germany is the second main global migration destination, behind the USA. In 2016, the country received 720,000 asylum applications, becoming the largest recipient of refugees in the world. This scenario triggered a migratory crisis, and was particularly novel for those German regions that, in the second half of the 20th century, were not recipients of international migration. Observing the configuration of this migrant reality, we visited seven cities in three German states between February 2 and 11. In this journey we met three different scenarios of migration in the country. The present text describes and analyzes these spaces through an ethnographic diary and photographic records.
