The article focuses on the new nationalist movements that are emerging in the European Union and on ideological the battle they are leading against religious diversity, increasingly visible in European societies. They consider that a threat to the Christian identity of Europe. Islam has therefore become a polemical object (in the sense of) in political discourse. Through this discourse, neo-nationalist tend to construct a convincing collective narrative: a society that is too different from the religious point of view is not sustainable.
